Even Now, We Can't Call a Duck a Duck

U.S. Holding 5 Americans for Iraq Activity

All five are apparently American citizens as well, who took up arms against the US in Iraq. One is a Navy vet. With all due disclaimers about the alleged nature of what they did, will we charge them with treason?

During the Vietnam war we disregarded the only crime mentioned in the Constitution and let the likes of Hanoi Jane get away with what was essentially treason. We found two American citizens fighting against the military in Afghanistan... they were not charged with treason either.

Will the US again pass on charging people who clearly committed treason with the actual charge of treason? Have we effectively repealed Article III Section 3 of the Constitution?

I'm all for it! Get Ollie North and Karl Rove in court for their treason trials today!

RESPONSE:

I'm approving this one because it shows the idiocy of the left. You may not like the policy, but it doesn't make it treason.

Violating an act of Congress to sell arms to a declared enemy of the United States (Iran) that is also a sponsor of terrorism is treason by any definition of the word. The liberals you mentioned did nothing close to actually providing weapons to the enemies of the U.S. as North did.

Compromising the safety of a US intelligence agent by revealing their identity to the press can also be easily defined as treason. Even Hanoi Jane didn't do anything that so directly put an American in greater danger.

Since the 5 people in the article are American citizens they should be entitled to a trial by jury, which the Bush administration wishes to deny them. It should be obvious by now that the Bill of Rights means nothing to George W. Bush but this is a good reminder.

RESPONSE:

And I'm letting this one fly too, because it is also absurd. One, there is no evidence that Rove did it. Two, there is no evidence that she was an actual agent (which doesn't mean divulging her identity was ok). Three, it wasn't to aid and comfort the enemy but retaliation, at worst.

I do believe Ollie North was acting on the President's orders (or at least a high administration official), so again, a policy difference does not make treason.
